Greater Antilles

Below the Us lies central  america and the Caribbean  a place with so many different influences and cultures that it has no rightful owners but are instead independent. In the Caribbean sea lie the islands and out of the thousands there are only 4 that make up the Greater Antilles. These islands are Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Hispaniola which has the countries: Haiti and Dominican Republic. Cuba being the closest has been an great interest in the US since it was recently in the power of Fidel Castro, and is still a communist country. Next comes Jamaica the home of the fastest man on earth, and some of the greatest musicians to this day. Having been widely influenced by African culture the majority of the culture is African. Next we head off to the U.S. owned Island of Puerto Rico, being one of the smaller and richer islands it has many exports and makes it a financially active place. Lastly we visit the island of Hispaniola and head to the west towards Haiti. Haiti is one of the poorest countries on earth, having no real government to support them, and no major exports, made it tough, the earthquake last year didn't help their situation any more. We head to the east and we find a slightly more advanced country, with a stable government, but a still-improving economy. This finishes my trip with you, and I hope you enjoyed getting to know some real Caribbean culture.
